SEAProTI held Document Translation for Visa and Work Permit Application Training Program
The Professional Translators, Translation Certification Providers, and Interpreters Society (PTIS) under the regulations of the Southeast Asian Association of Professional Translators and Interpreters (SEAProTI) organized the training program entitled "Document Translation for Visa and Work Permit Application" between 2-4 August 2023 to strengthen the translation skills of existing SEAProTI's members and non-members who are interested in operating a visa and work permit application business. The training program was conducted by many trainers and speakers as follows:
Khun Wanitcha Sumanat (วณิชชา สุมานัส), the president of the Southeast Asian Association of Professional Translators and Interpreters (SEAProTI), spoke about the introduction of document translation, the Immigration Act, B.E. 2522 (1979), the Foreign Business Act, B.E. 2542 (1999), etc.
Khun Suraphan Virojanadul (สุรพันธ์ วิโรจน์ดุล), a SEAproTI's Board of Advisors and honourary member spoke about the Reflections (document/technical translation), the Goal of translation, the Elements of technical translation, and Technical translation showcase (discourse analysis).
Khun Siriphon Supphanimitrvisetkul (ศิริพร ศุภนิมิตวิเศษกุล), the director of the Information and Communication Technology Center, the Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Khun Piyakwan Chomchoen (ปิยะขวัญ ชมชื่น), Legal Officer, Department of Consular Affairs, Nationality and Legal Affairs Division at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, spoke about Legalization, Notary Public and Apostille practices.
Khun Suthasinee Phuangchomphoo (สุธาสินี พวงชมภู), the document translation proofreader from the Division of Nationality and Legal Affairs, Department of Consular Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, spoke about types of documents issued by the government in two languages, other forms of translation and caution when translating documents, and vocabulary for document translation and the use of proper words in document translation.
Attorney Theeraphong Songkhasri (ธีรพงษ์ ทรงคาศรี), a lawyer and owner of a law firm, spoke about the practices of notarial service attorney and how to work with them.
Khun Pathumwadee Phusitthisak (ปทุมวดี ภู่สิทธิศักดิ์), the director of Wisdom Expert Co., Ltd., spoke about the translation of documents for foreigners in Thailand, precautions in preparing documents. and document translation, and understand the cost and profit of doing document translation business for foreigners.
And Khun Phathorn Preechawit (พธร ปรีชาวิทย์), a senior procurement analyst from Fastwork Technologies, spoke about trends in the translation and interpretation industry.
