SEAProTI President Supports Medical Interpreting Services in Chiang Rai’s HIRAID Emergency Nursing Project
8 July 2025, Chiang Rai – Wanitcha Sumanat, President of the Southeast Asian Association of Professional Translators and Interpreters (SEAProTI), has provided professional interpreter support to Chiangrai Prachanukroh Hospital for the pilot implementation of the HIRAID project — a framework designed to elevate emergency nursing care in line with international standards.
This initiative is a collaborative effort between Chiangrai Prachanukroh Hospital, Mae Fah Luang University, and two leading Australian universities: the University of Sydney and Deakin University. The program began with a practical training workshop for 12 senior nurses, who are expected to serve as future trainers within their institutions.
Throughout the training, SEAProTI facilitated high-quality interpretation services to ensure seamless communication between Australian experts and Thai healthcare professionals. Given the complexity of clinical concepts and the need for accurate cultural and contextual understanding, professional interpreting was essential to the success of the program.
HIRAID, which stands for History, Identify Red Flags, Assessment, Interventions, and Diagnostics, is a structured framework developed by researchers in Australia. It aims to improve the quality of emergency patient care, minimize clinical errors, and strengthen communication between nurses and physicians.
“Emergency nurses must care for patients of all ages, some of whom are unable to communicate. Initial assessment is often like clinical investigation — and HIRAID ensures that nothing critical is missed,” said Professor Kate, one of the project’s lead developers.
Professor Julie, another key figure in the initiative, added, “This is not just a training session — it marks the beginning of an international collaboration that will have a long-term impact on patient safety across the country.”
The HIRAID project has been officially incorporated into the hospital’s 10-year strategic plan, with the goal of establishing Chiangrai Prachanukroh Hospital as a regional center of healthcare excellence in Asia. In parallel, the research team is working to align the project with Thailand’s 5-year National Health Value Chain Development Plan and intends to publish the outcomes in international academic journals to highlight Thailand’s growing role in global healthcare.

The Southeast Asian Association of Professional Translators and Interpreters (SEAProTI) has officially announced the criteria and qualifications for individuals to register as “Certified Translators,” “Translation Certification Providers,” and “Certified Interpreters” under the association’s regulations. สมาคม SEAProTI สนับสนุนล่ามมืออาชีพในโครงการ HIRAID ยกระดับการพยาบาลฉุกเฉินที่เชียงราย
8 กรกฎาคม 2568, เชียงราย – คุณวณิชชา สุมานัส นายกสมาคมวิชาชีพนักแปลและล่ามแห่งเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ (SEAProTI) ให้การสนับสนุนทีมล่ามมืออาชีพแก่โรงพยาบาลเชียงรายประชานุเคราะห์ ในโครงการนำร่อง HIRAID (History, Identify Red flags, Assessment, Interventions, Diagnostics) เพื่อยกระดับการดูแลผู้ป่วยฉุกเฉินของประเทศไทยให้ทัดเทียมมาตรฐานสากล
โครงการนี้เป็นความร่วมมือระหว่างโรงพยาบาลเชียงรายประชานุเคราะห์ มหาวิทยาลัยแม่ฟ้าหลวง และสองมหาวิทยาลัยชั้นนำจากออสเตรเลีย ได้แก่ University of Sydney และ Deakin University ซึ่งได้เริ่มต้นการอบรมเชิงปฏิบัติการแก่กลุ่มพยาบาลอาวุโส จำนวน 12 คน โดยมีเป้าหมายเพื่อขยายการอบรมต่อไปยังบุคลากรในโรงพยาบาลระดับต่าง ๆ ทั่วประเทศ
ตลอดการอบรม ได้รับการสนับสนุนด้านการล่ามจากสมาคม SEAProTI เพื่ออำนวยความสะดวกด้านการสื่อสารระหว่างวิทยากรชาวออสเตรเลียและบุคลากรไทย โดยเฉพาะในกระบวนการถ่ายทอดองค์ความรู้ด้านคลินิก ซึ่งมีความซับซ้อนและต้องการความเข้าใจอย่างถูกต้องทั้งในมิติภาษาและวัฒนธรรมองค์กรสุขภาพ
HIRAID เป็นกรอบแนวทางที่ได้รับการพัฒนาโดยนักวิจัยในออสเตรเลีย เพื่อช่วยให้พยาบาลสามารถประเมินและตอบสนองต่อภาวะฉุกเฉินทางการแพทย์ได้อย่างเป็นระบบ ลดความผิดพลาดในการดูแลผู้ป่วย และเพิ่มประสิทธิภาพการสื่อสารระหว่างทีมพยาบาลและแพทย์
ศาสตราจารย์เคท หนึ่งในผู้พัฒนา HIRAID กล่าวว่า “พยาบาลในห้องฉุกเฉินต้องรับมือกับผู้ป่วยทุกช่วงวัย บางรายไม่สามารถสื่อสารได้ การประเมินจึงเสมือนการสืบสวนทางคลินิก HIRAID จะช่วยไม่ให้พลาดสิ่งสำคัญ”
ขณะเดียวกัน ศาสตราจารย์จูลี กล่าวย้ำว่า “นี่ไม่ใช่แค่การอบรม แต่คือจุดเริ่มต้นของความร่วมมือระดับนานาชาติ ที่จะส่งผลยาวไกลต่อความปลอดภัยของผู้ป่วยทั่วประเทศ”
โครงการ HIRAID ได้รับการบรรจุไว้ในแผนยุทธศาสตร์ 10 ปี ของโรงพยาบาลเชียงรายประชานุเคราะห์ โดยมีเป้าหมายพัฒนาองค์กรสู่ศูนย์กลางสุขภาพระดับภูมิภาคเอเชีย นอกจากนี้ ยังอยู่ระหว่างดำเนินการวิจัยเพื่อจัดทำข้อเสนอเชิงนโยบายแก่รัฐบาลไทย ภายใต้แผนพัฒนา Value Chain ด้านระบบสุขภาพแห่งชาติ พร้อมวางแผนจัดพิมพ์ผลงานในวารสารวิชาการระดับนานาชาติ เพื่อยกระดับบทบาทของประเทศไทยในเวทีสาธารณสุขโลก
สมาคม SEAProTI ยังคงมุ่งมั่นให้การสนับสนุนงานด้านภาษาในภาคสาธารณสุขอย่างต่อเนื่อง เพื่อเสริมสร้างระบบการสื่อสารที่ปลอดภัยและเท่าเทียม โดยเฉพาะในพื้นที่ชายแดนและเขตบริการที่มีความหลากหลายทางภาษาและวัฒนธรรม
