SEAProTI President Participates in Migration Reporting Workshop

Wanitcha Sumanat, President of the Southeast Asian Association of Professional Translators and Interpreters (SEAProTI), took part in a professional workshop titled “Navigating Migration Narratives and Principles of Ethical Journalism”, organized by DW Akademie in collaboration with leading media and human rights organizations.
The three-day training aimed to strengthen participants’ understanding and skills in reporting on migration ethically and responsibly, with a focus on:
- Avoiding bias, stereotypes, and harmful generalizations
- Telling human-centered stories that respect the dignity of migrants
- Communicating in ways that foster understanding between migrant and host communities
The workshop featured group discussions, case studies, and hands-on newswriting sessions, guided by prominent international communication experts, including:
- Mr. Itayi Viriri, Senior Regional Media and Communications Officer, IOM Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific
- Mr. Mic Chawaratt, Representative of the International Detention Coalition
Wanitcha shared insights from her perspective as a language and media expert, highlighting the crucial role of immigration journalists in ensuring accurate, fair, and unbiased communication in migration-related reporting. Wanitcha emphasized how language professionals contribute to upholding human rights through responsible storytelling.
SEAProTI’s active participation in this workshop reflects the organization’s strong commitment to advancing ethical standards in language and communication, particularly in areas that directly impact social justice and human rights.
SEAProTI’s certified translators, translation certification providers, and certified interpreters:
The Southeast Asian Association of Professional Translators and Interpreters (SEAProTI) has officially announced the criteria and qualifications for individuals to register as “Certified Translators,” “Translation Certification Providers,” and “Certified Interpreters” under the association’s regulations. These guidelines are detailed in Sections 9 and 10 of the Royal Thai Government Gazette, issued by the Secretariat of the Cabinet under the Office of the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand, dated July 25, 2024, Volume 141, Part 66 Ng, Page 100.

นายกสมาคม SEAProTI ร่วมอบรมเชิงปฏิบัติการ “การรายงานข่าวด้านการย้ายถิ่นฐาน”

คุณวณิชชา สุมานัส นายกสมาคมวิชาชีพนักแปลและล่ามแห่งเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ (SEAProTI) เข้าร่วมการอบรมเชิงปฏิบัติการในหัวข้อ “Navigating Migration Narratives and Principles of Ethical Journalism” ซึ่งจัดขึ้นโดย DW Akademie ร่วมกับเครือข่ายด้านสื่อมวลชนและสิทธิมนุษยชนจากนานาชาติ
การอบรมครั้งนี้มีเป้าหมายเพื่อเสริมสร้างความเข้าใจและทักษะในการรายงานข่าวที่เกี่ยวข้องกับการย้ายถิ่นฐานอย่างมีจริยธรรม โดยเน้นประเด็นสำคัญ ได้แก่
- การหลีกเลี่ยงอคติ การเหมารวม และการตีตราผู้ย้ายถิ่น
- การเล่าเรื่องที่เคารพศักดิ์ศรีความเป็นมนุษย์
- การสื่อสารอย่างสร้างสรรค์เพื่อส่งเสริมความเข้าใจระหว่างผู้ย้ายถิ่นและชุมชนเจ้าบ้าน
กิจกรรมตลอดสามวันประกอบด้วย การอภิปรายกลุ่ม กรณีศึกษา และการฝึกเขียนข่าว โดยมีวิทยากรผู้เชี่ยวชาญด้านการสื่อสารระหว่างประเทศร่วมให้ความรู้ อาทิ:
- คุณ Itayi Viriri เจ้าหน้าที่อาวุโสฝ่ายสื่อและการสื่อสาร สำนักงาน IOM ประจำภูมิภาคเอเชียแปซิฟิก

ในโอกาสนี้ คุณวณิชชา ได้ร่วมแบ่งปันมุมมองในฐานะผู้เชี่ยวชาญด้านภาษาและการสื่อสาร โดยเน้นบทบาทของ ผู้สื่อข่าวสาย Immigrations ในการสนับสนุนให้การสื่อสารเกี่ยวกับประเด็นการย้ายถิ่นเกิดขึ้นอย่างถูกต้อง ยุติธรรม และไม่บิดเบือน พร้อมชี้ให้เห็นว่าผู้เชี่ยวชาญด้านภาษามีบทบาทสำคัญในการส่งเสริมสิทธิมนุษยชนผ่านการสื่อสารอย่างมีความรับผิดชอบ
การมีส่วนร่วมของ SEAProTI ในการอบรมครั้งนี้ สะท้อนให้เห็นถึงพันธกิจขององค์กรในการยกระดับมาตรฐานด้านภาษาและการสื่อสารที่เคารพต่อหลักสิทธิมนุษยชนและความเป็นธรรมในสังคม
