“Union Nights” Hosts Ramadan Lecture Series Bringing Together Translation and AI Experts from Multiple Countries
18 February 2026, Bangkok – The Union of International Translators has launched a special Ramadan initiative titled “Union Nights” (ليالي الاتحاد), an online lecture series running throughout the month. The program is designed as a platform for knowledge-sharing, combined with interactive activities to engage participants.
Wanitcha Sumanat, president of the Southeast Asian Association of Professional Translators and Interpreters (SEAProTI), has been invited to deliver a keynote address on the topic “Artificial Intelligence (AI) as an Intelligent Assistant (IA) in Forensic Linguistics Analysis.” Her lecture is scheduled as Session 4 on Sunday, 1 March 2026.
According to the organizers, the initiative aims to transform Ramadan into a season of learning within a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Participants not only attend lectures delivered by experts but also take part in cultural knowledge segments and daily quizzes with prizes, adding an element of enjoyment to the educational experience.
The opening session will be held on 20 February at 8:00 p.m. Beirut time (Lebanon), which corresponds to 1:00 a.m. the following day in Thailand. The event will include welcoming remarks and an overview of the program, with emphasis placed on the growing importance of the translation profession in an era increasingly shaped by technology, particularly artificial intelligence (AI).
Throughout the series, lecture topics address key issues relevant to modern translators. These include the qualifications translators need in real-world professional settings, the role of computers and AI in supporting translation work, the use of tools such as machine translation and CAT tools, and the impact of AI on education and higher education institutions. Additional sessions explore sworn translation, the business dimension of translation expertise, and the relationship between language and identity in contemporary society.
One of the highlighted presentations focuses on the use of AI as an “intelligent assistant” in forensic linguistics analysis, demonstrating how translation and language-related professions are increasingly intersecting with advanced technologies, particularly in legal contexts.
Organizers state that a primary objective of “Union Nights” is to strengthen networks among translators, academics, and language professionals from various countries, encouraging the exchange of experience and supporting the development of professional standards in response to rapid digital transformation.
The program will conclude on 18 March with a closing ceremony featuring the announcement of quiz winners, prize distribution, and words of appreciation to participants. Through this initiative, “Union Nights” seeks to present Ramadan not only as a spiritual observance but also as an opportunity for learning, professional growth, and international collaboration.

SEAProTI is the first professional association in Thailand and Southeast Asia to implement a comprehensive certification system for translators, certifiers, and interpreters.

18 กุมภาพันธ์ 2569, กรุงเทพมหานคร – สหภาพนักแปลนานาชาติ (Union of International Translators) เปิดตัวกิจกรรมพิเศษช่วงเดือนรอมฎอนในชื่อ “ค่ำคืนแห่งสหภาพ” (ليالي الاتحاد) เป็นโครงการบรรยายออนไลน์ที่จัดต่อเนื่องตลอดเดือน โดยตั้งใจให้เป็นพื้นที่แบ่งปันความรู้ ควบคู่กับกิจกรรมสร้างสีสันและการมีส่วนร่วมของผู้เข้าฟัง
คุณวณิชชา สุมานัส นายกสมาคมวิชาชีพนักแปลและล่ามแห่งเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ (SEAProTI) ได้รับเชิญให้บรรยายในฐานะวิทยากรปาฐกถาพิเศษในหัวข้อ “ปัญญาประดิษฐ์ (AI) ในฐานะผู้ช่วยอัจฉริยะ (IA) ในการวิเคราะห์นิติภาษาศาสตร์” โดยมีกำหนดการบรรยายเป็นครั้งที่ 4 ในวันอาทิตย์ที่ 1 มีนาคม 2569
ผู้จัดงานอธิบายว่า โครงการนี้ต้องการทำให้เดือนรอมฎอนเป็นช่วงเวลาแห่งการเรียนรู้ไปพร้อมกับบรรยากาศที่อบอุ่น ผู้เข้าร่วมไม่เพียงได้รับฟังการบรรยายจากผู้เชี่ยวชาญ แต่ยังได้ร่วมกิจกรรมคำถามความรู้ทั่วไปและลุ้นรับรางวัล เพื่อสร้างความสนุกสนานระหว่างการเรียนรู้
คืนเปิดงานเมื่อวันที่ 20 กุมภาพันธ์ เวลา 20.00 น ตามเวลากรุงไบรุต ประเทศเลบานอน หรือเวลา 01.00 น ของอีกวัน ตามเวลาในประเทศไทย มีการกล่าวต้อนรับและแนะนำภาพรวมของโครงการ พร้อมย้ำถึงความสำคัญของวิชาชีพนักแปลในยุคที่เทคโนโลยี โดยเฉพาะปัญญาประดิษฐ์ หรือ AI เข้ามามีบทบาทมากขึ้นในทุกวงการ
หัวข้อบรรยายตลอดโครงการครอบคลุมประเด็นที่เกี่ยวข้องกับนักแปลยุคใหม่ เช่น คุณสมบัติที่นักแปลควรมีในโลกการทำงานจริง บทบาทของคอมพิวเตอร์และ AI ในการช่วยแปล การใช้เครื่องมือช่วยแปลอย่าง Machine Translation และ CAT Tools รวมถึงผลกระทบของ AI ต่อการศึกษาและมหาวิทยาลัย นอกจากนี้ยังมีหัวข้อเกี่ยวกับการแปลสาบานตน มิติทางธุรกิจของผู้เชี่ยวชาญด้านการแปล และเรื่องภาษาและอัตลักษณ์ในสังคมปัจจุบัน
หนึ่งในหัวข้อที่ได้รับความสนใจคือการนำเสนอแนวคิดการใช้ AI เป็น “ผู้ช่วยอัจฉริยะ” ในการวิเคราะห์ภาษาที่เกี่ยวข้องกับคดีความ หรือที่เรียกว่านิติภาษาศาสตร์ ซึ่งสะท้อนให้เห็นว่าการแปลและงานด้านภาษาเริ่มเชื่อมโยงกับเทคโนโลยีขั้นสูงมากขึ้น
ผู้จัดงานระบุว่า เป้าหมายสำคัญของ “ค่ำคืนแห่งสหภาพ” คือการสร้างเครือข่ายระหว่างนักแปล นักวิชาการ และผู้ทำงานด้านภาษาในหลายประเทศ เพื่อให้เกิดการแลกเปลี่ยนประสบการณ์ และช่วยกันพัฒนามาตรฐานวิชาชีพให้ทันกับความเปลี่ยนแปลงของโลกดิจิทัล
โครงการจะปิดท้ายในวันที่ 18 มีนาคม ด้วยการประกาศรายชื่อผู้ชนะกิจกรรม มอบรางวัล และกล่าวขอบคุณผู้เข้าร่วมงาน ตลอดระยะเวลาที่จัดกิจกรรม “ค่ำคืนแห่งสหภาพ” จึงถือเป็นอีกหนึ่งความพยายามในการทำให้เดือนรอมฎอนไม่ได้มีเพียงมิติทางศาสนาเท่านั้น แต่ยังเป็นช่วงเวลาแห่งการเรียนรู้และพัฒนาตนเองในระดับนานาชาติอีกด้วย
สมาคมวิชาชีพนักแปลและล่ามแห่งเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ (SEAProTI) ได้ประกาศหลักเกณฑ์และคุณสมบัติของผู้ที่ขึ้นทะเบียนเป็น “นักแปลรับรอง (Certified Translators) และผู้รับรองการแปล (Translation Certification Providers) และล่ามรับรอง (Certified Interpreters)” ของสมาคม หมวดที่ 9 และหมวดที่ 10 ในราชกิจจานุเบกษา ของสำนักเลขาธิการคณะรัฐมนตรี ในสำนักนายกรัฐมนตรี แห่งราชอาณาจักรไทย ลงวันที่ 25 ก.ค. 2567 เล่มที่ 141 ตอนที่ 66 ง หน้า 100 อ่านฉบับเต็มได้ที่: นักแปลรับรอง ผู้รับรองการแปล และล่ามรับรอง
สำนักคณะกรรมการกฤษฎีกาเสนอให้ตราเป็นพระราชกฤษฎีกา โดยกำหนดให้นักแปลที่ขึ้นทะเบียน รวมถึงผู้รับรองการแปลจากสมาคมวิชาชีพหรือสถาบันสอนภาษาที่มีการอบรมและขึ้นทะเบียน สามารถรับรองคำแปลได้ (จดหมายถึงสมาคม SEAProTI ลงวันที่ 28 เม.ย. 2568)
