Required Documents for Certified Translator and Interpreter Applications (All Levels) Southeast Asian Association of Professional Translators and Interpreters (SEAProTI)
Effective from January 7, 2025, applicants for the positions of Certified Translator and Certified Interpreter must submit the required documents as specified below. Incomplete applications will not be considered under any circumstances.
. For Certified Translator Applicants
Required Documents:
A completed SEAProTI membership application form.
A copy of the applicant’s ID card or passport (certified true copy).
A copy of the applicant’s degree certificate and transcript (certified true copy).
For documents issued abroad, the original document and a certification from the Department of Consular Affairs may be required.
Original proof of relevant foreign language proficiency test results (only original documents are accepted).
A copy of the certificate of completion for mandatory training for translator certification levels C1, C2, and C3.
Proof of work experience with 10 samples, or employment verification documents, such as:
Employer letters,
Purchase orders (PO), invoices, or payment receipts,
Original withholding tax certificates.
Results from a translation proficiency exam (conducted online or on-site as scheduled).
An original police clearance certificate issued by the Royal Thai Police (only original documents are accepted).
An original bankruptcy history certificate issued by the Legal Execution Department (only original documents are accepted).
Recommendation letters from one Regular Member and one SEAProTI Board Member.
2. For Certified Interpreter Applicants
Required Documents:
A completed SEAProTI membership application form.
A copy of the applicant’s ID card or passport (certified true copy).
A copy of the applicant’s degree certificate and transcript (certified true copy).
For documents issued abroad, the original document and a certification from the Department of Consular Affairs may be required.
Original proof of relevant foreign language proficiency test results (only original documents are accepted).
A copy of the certificate of completion for mandatory training for interpreter certification levels C1, C2, and C3.
Proof of work experience with 10 samples, such as:

Purchase orders (PO), invoices, or payment receipts.
Results from an interpretation proficiency exam (conducted online or on-site as scheduled).
An original police clearance certificate issued by the Royal Thai Police (only original documents are accepted).
An original bankruptcy history certificate issued by the Legal Execution Department (only original documents are accepted).
Recommendation letters from one Regular Member and one SEAProTI Board Member.

SEAProTI reserves the right to request additional documents if necessary.

The Southeast Asian Association of Professional Translators and Interpreters (SEAProTI) has officially announced the criteria and qualifications for individuals to register as “Certified Translators,” “Translation Certification Providers,” and “Certified Interpreters” under the association’s regulations. These guidelines are detailed in Sections 9 and 10 of the Royal Thai Government Gazette, issued by the Secretariat of the Cabinet under the Office of the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand, dated July 25, 2024, Volume 141, Part 66 Ng, Page 100.
