Press Release: SEAProTI Welcomes New Interns: Internship Orientation 2025
On November 3, 2025, the Southeast Asian Association of Professional Translators and Interpreters (SEAProTI) held its Internship Orientation Ceremony for the academic year 2025 at its headquarters, Phaholyothin 17 Building, Bangkok.
The event aimed to introduce students to SEAProTI’s mission, the professional role of translators and interpreters in the ASEAN region, and the structure of the internship program in Translation, Interpreting, and Cross-Cultural Communication.
Wanitcha Sumanat, President of SEAProTI, delivered the opening remarks and gave a special lecture on “Professional Identity and Ethics of Translators and Interpreters in the ASEAN Context.” She emphasized the importance of professional ethics, linguistic accuracy, and cultural sensitivity as the foundation of the interpreting and translation profession.
The orientation also introduced the Mentorship Program, through which each intern will be guided by SEAProTI’s Certified Translators and Interpreters. This initiative aims to help students develop professional competence and prepare for future certification under SEAProTI’s regional standards. Participants were also invited to join the association’s Continuous Professional Development (CPD) programs and regional professional seminars throughout the year.
The event concluded with an interactive sharing session between former interns and SEAProTI members, fostering an inspiring and collegial atmosphere that reflects SEAProTI’s ongoing mission to empower the next generation of translators and interpreters in Southeast Asia.
About Certified Translators, Translation Certifiers, and Certified Interpreters of SEAProTI
The Southeast Asian Association of Professional Translators and Interpreters (SEAProTI) has formally announced the qualifications and requirements for registration of Certified Translators, Translation Certification Providers, and Certified Interpreters in Sections 9 and 10 of the Royal Gazette, published by the Secretariat of the Cabinet, Office of the Prime Minister of Thailand, on 25 July 2024 (Vol. 141, Part 66 Ng, p. 100). The Council of State has proposed the enactment of a Royal Decree, granting registered translators and recognized translation certifiers from professional associations or accredited language institutions the authority to provide legally valid translation certification (Letter to SEAProTI dated April 28, 2025)
SEAProTI is the first professional association in Thailand and Southeast Asia to implement a comprehensive certification system for translators, certifiers, and interpreters.

สมาคมวิชาชีพนักแปลและล่ามแห่งเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ (SEAProTI) จัดปฐมนิเทศนักศึกษาฝึกงาน ประจำปีการศึกษา 2568
เมื่อวันที่ 3 พฤศจิกายน 2568 สมาคมวิชาชีพนักแปลและล่ามแห่งเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ (Southeast Asian Association of Professional Translators and Interpreters – SEAProTI) ได้จัดพิธี ปฐมนิเทศนักศึกษาฝึกงาน ประจำปีการศึกษา 2568 ณ สำนักงานใหญ่ของสมาคม อาคารพหล 17 กรุงเทพฯ
การปฐมนิเทศครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อแนะนำพันธกิจของสมาคม บทบาทของนักแปลและล่ามในระดับภูมิภาคอาเซียน รวมถึงแนวทางการฝึกงานเชิงวิชาชีพในสาขา การแปล การล่าม และการสื่อสารข้ามวัฒนธรรม (Translation, Interpreting, and Cross-Cultural Communication) โดยมี คุณวณิชชา สุมานัส นายกสมาคม SEAProTI กล่าวต้อนรับนักศึกษาฝึกงานรุ่นใหม่ พร้อมบรรยายพิเศษในหัวข้อ “Professional Identity and Ethics of Translators and Interpreters in the ASEAN Context”
ในโอกาสนี้ สมาคมได้แนะนำระบบ Mentorship Program สำหรับนักศึกษาฝึกงาน ซึ่งจะได้รับการดูแลโดยนักแปลและล่ามรับรอง (Certified Translators and Interpreters) ของสมาคม เพื่อสร้างเส้นทางอาชีพที่มั่นคงและมีมาตรฐานตามหลักสากล อีกทั้งยังเปิดโอกาสให้นักศึกษาเข้าร่วมกิจกรรม Continuous Professional Development (CPD) และงานสัมมนาวิชาชีพระดับภูมิภาคที่สมาคมจัดขึ้นตลอดปี
พิธีปฐมนิเทศจบลงด้วยการแลกเปลี่ยนประสบการณ์ระหว่างรุ่นพี่นักศึกษาฝึกงานและสมาชิกสมาคม พร้อมบรรยากาศอบอุ่นและเป็นกันเอง สะท้อนให้เห็นถึงบทบาทของ SEAProTI ในการผลักดันคนรุ่นใหม่สู่การเป็นผู้ประกอบวิชาชีพแปลและล่ามที่มีคุณภาพในระดับอาเซียน

สมาคมวิชาชีพนักแปลและล่ามแห่งเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ (SEAProTI) ได้ประกาศหลักเกณฑ์และคุณสมบัติผู้ที่ขึ้นทะเบียนเป็น “นักแปลรับรอง (Certified Translators) และผู้รับรองการแปล (Translation Certification Providers) และล่ามรับรอง (Certified Interpreters)” ของสมาคม หมวดที่ 9 และหมวดที่ 10 ในราชกิจจานุเบกษา ของสำนักเลขาธิการคณะรัฐมนตรี ในสำนักนายกรัฐมนตรี แห่งราชอาณาจักรไทย ลงวันที่ 25 ก.ค. 2567 เล่มที่ 141 ตอนที่ 66 ง หน้า 100 อ่านฉบับเต็มได้ที่: นักแปลรับรอง ผู้รับรองการแปล และล่ามรับรอง
สำนักคณะกรรมการกฤษฎีกาเสนอให้ตราเป็นพระราชกฤษฎีกา โดยกำหนดให้นักแปลที่ขึ้นทะเบียน รวมถึงผู้รับรองการแปลจากสมาคมวิชาชีพหรือสถาบันสอนภาษาที่มีการอบรมและขึ้นทะเบียน สามารถรับรองคำแปลได้ (จดหมายถึงสมาคม SEAProTI ลงวันที่ 28 เม.ย. 2568)
