SEAProTI President Testifies as Forensic Linguistics Expert Witness in Defamation Case
On 17 July 2025, Bangkok – Khun Wanitcha Sumanas, President of the Southeast Asian Association of Professional Translators and Interpreters (SEAProTI), served as an expert witness in forensic linguistics in a defamation lawsuit filed by Mr. Santhana Prayoonrat (co-plaintiff) against Mr. Chuwit Kamolvisit (defendant).
In her testimony, Wanitcha provided expert linguistic analysis of the disputed language used in the case, drawing from the field of forensic linguistics, which examines how language is used in legal and judicial contexts. Her expert opinion focused on:

The Southeast Asian Association of Professional Translators and Interpreters (SEAProTI) has officially announced the criteria and qualifications for individuals to register as “Certified Translators,” “Translation Certification Providers,” and “Certified Interpreters” under the association’s regulations. วันที่ 17 กรกฎาคม 2568, กรุงเทพมหานคร — คุณวณิชชา สุมานัส นายกสมาคมวิชาชีพนักแปลและล่ามแห่งเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ (SEAProTI) ได้ปฏิบัติหน้าที่ในฐานะ พยานผู้เชี่ยวชาญด้านนิติภาษาศาสตร์ ณ ห้องพิจารณาคดี ในคดีหมิ่นประมาทระหว่าง คุณสันธนะ ประยูรรัตน์ (โจทก์ร่วม) และ คุณชูวิทย์ กมลวิศิษย์ (จำเลย)
ในการเบิกความครั้งนี้ คุณวณิชชาให้ความเห็นเชิงวิชาการเกี่ยวกับถ้อยคำที่เป็นข้อพิพาท โดยอาศัยองค์ความรู้ด้าน นิติภาษาศาสตร์ (Forensic Linguistics) ซึ่งเป็นสาขาวิชาที่วิเคราะห์การใช้ภาษาในบริบทของกฎหมายและกระบวนการยุติธรรม ครอบคลุมตั้งแต่:
