Launches Subtitling Workshop, Day 1 on 17 January 2026
On 17 January 2026, the Southeast Asian Association of Professional Translators and Interpreters officially launched a hands-on workshop in subtitle translation (subtitling). The event marked the first day of a pilot training program designed under the Association’s framework for professional standards development and for preparing candidates toward enlistment as professional subtitlers with the Association.
The first day of training emphasized practical learning. Participants worked directly with video materials in scenarios closely resembling real-world subtitling assignments. The sessions covered accurate meaning transfer and management of technical constraints specific to subtitles, such as character limits per line and on-screen timing, as well as alignment with visuals, audio, and linguistic and cultural context, all of which are essential components of professional-level subtitling.
The training atmosphere was intensive and collaborative. Participants actively exchanged professional experiences, raised technical and ethical questions, and received guidance from instructors and subject-matter experts. These interactions aimed to deepen participants’ understanding of professional subtitling standards and to prepare them for subsequent assessments in accordance with the Association’s criteria.
On this occasion, Wanitcha Sumanat, president of the Southeast Asian Association of Professional Translators and Interpreters, stated:
“Subtitling is not merely a matter of language transfer. It requires linguistic expertise, technical competence, and a strong sense of professional ethics. This workshop has therefore been designed as a practice-oriented program, allowing participants to learn through hands-on experience and to prepare themselves for professional recognition under the Association’s standards.”
The workshop represents an important step toward enhancing professional standards for subtitlers in Thailand and reflects the Association’s ongoing role in systematically and sustainably promoting knowledge, skills, and ethics within the language professions.
The Southeast Asian Association of Professional Translators and Interpreters (SEAProTI) has officially shared the qualifications and requirements for becoming Certified Translators, Translation Certification Providers, and Certified Interpreters in Sections 9 and 10 of the Royal Gazette, which was published by the Prime Minister’s Office in Thailand on July 25, 2024. The Council of State has proposed the enactment of a Royal Decree, granting registered translators and recognised translation certifiers from professional associations or accredited language institutions the authority to provide legally valid translation certification (Letter to SEAProTI dated April 28, 2025)
SEAProTI is the first professional association in Thailand and Southeast Asia to implement a comprehensive certification system for translators, certifiers, and interpreters.

เปิดอบรมเชิงปฏิบัติการนักแปลบทบรรยายใต้ภาพ วันแรก 17 มกราคม 2569
17 มกราคม 2569, กรุงเทพมหานคร – สมาคมวิชาชีพนักแปลและล่ามแห่งเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ ได้จัดการอบรมเชิงปฏิบัติการด้านการแปลบทบรรยายใต้ภาพ (Subtitling) อย่างเป็นทางการ ซึ่งนับเป็นวันแรกของการอบรมในหลักสูตรนำร่อง ภายใต้กรอบการพัฒนามาตรฐานวิชาชีพและการเตรียมความพร้อมสู่การขึ้นบัญชีนักแปลบทบรรยายใต้ภาพของสมาคม
การอบรมในวันแรกมุ่งเน้นการเรียนรู้เชิงปฏิบัติ โดยผู้เข้าร่วมอบรมได้ฝึกทำงานกับสื่อวิดีโอในบริบทใกล้เคียงกับงานจริง ครอบคลุมทั้งการถ่ายทอดความหมายอย่างถูกต้องครบถ้วน การจัดการข้อจำกัดทางเทคนิคของบทบรรยายใต้ภาพ เช่น จำนวนตัวอักษรต่อบรรทัด ระยะเวลาในการแสดงผล ตลอดจนความสอดคล้องกับภาพ เสียง และบริบททางภาษาและวัฒนธรรม ซึ่งเป็นองค์ประกอบสำคัญของงานแปลบทบรรยายใต้ภาพในระดับวิชาชีพ
บรรยากาศการอบรมเป็นไปอย่างเข้มข้นและเอื้อต่อการแลกเปลี่ยนเรียนรู้ ผู้เข้าอบรมได้ร่วมอภิปราย ซักถามประเด็นเชิงวิชาชีพ และรับคำแนะนำจากวิทยากรและผู้เชี่ยวชาญ เพื่อเสริมสร้างความเข้าใจในมาตรฐานงานซับไตเติลและเตรียมความพร้อมสำหรับการประเมินตามเกณฑ์ของสมาคมในลำดับถัดไป
ในโอกาสนี้ วณิชชา สุมานัส นายกสมาคมวิชาชีพนักแปลและล่ามแห่งเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ กล่าวถึงการจัดอบรมในครั้งนี้ว่า
“การแปลบทบรรยายใต้ภาพเป็นงานที่ต้องอาศัยทั้งความเชี่ยวชาญด้านภาษา ความเข้าใจเชิงเทคนิค และจริยธรรมแห่งวิชาชีพ สมาคมจึงออกแบบการอบรมในรูปแบบเชิงปฏิบัติ เพื่อให้ผู้เข้าร่วมได้เรียนรู้จากการลงมือทำจริง และเตรียมความพร้อมสำหรับการก้าวสู่การเป็นนักแปลบทบรรยายใต้ภาพในระดับวิชาชีพภายใต้มาตรฐานของสมาคม”
ทั้งนี้ การจัดอบรมเชิงปฏิบัติการดังกล่าวถือเป็นอีกก้าวสำคัญในการยกระดับมาตรฐานวิชาชีพนักแปลบทบรรยายใต้ภาพในประเทศไทย และสะท้อนบทบาทของสมาคมในการส่งเสริมความรู้ ทักษะ และจริยธรรมของวิชาชีพด้านภาษาอย่างเป็นระบบและยั่งยืน
เกี่ยวกับนักแปลรับรอง ผู้รับรองการแปล และล่ามรับรองของสมาคมวิชาชีพนักแปลและล่ามแห่งเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้
สมาคมวิชาชีพนักแปลและล่ามแห่งเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ (SEAProTI) ได้ประกาศหลักเกณฑ์และคุณสมบัติของผู้ที่ขึ้นทะเบียนเป็น “นักแปลรับรอง (Certified Translators) และผู้รับรองการแปล (Translation Certification Providers) และล่ามรับรอง (Certified Interpreters)” ของสมาคม หมวดที่ 9 และหมวดที่ 10 ในราชกิจจานุเบกษา ของสำนักเลขาธิการคณะรัฐมนตรี ในสำนักนายกรัฐมนตรี แห่งราชอาณาจักรไทย ลงวันที่ 25 ก.ค. 2567 เล่มที่ 141 ตอนที่ 66 ง หน้า 100 อ่านฉบับเต็มได้ที่: นักแปลรับรอง ผู้รับรองการแปล และล่ามรับรอง
สำนักคณะกรรมการกฤษฎีกาเสนอให้ตราเป็นพระราชกฤษฎีกา โดยกำหนดให้นักแปลที่ขึ้นทะเบียน รวมถึงผู้รับรองการแปลจากสมาคมวิชาชีพหรือสถาบันสอนภาษาที่มีการอบรมและขึ้นทะเบียน สามารถรับรองคำแปลได้ (จดหมายถึงสมาคม SEAProTI ลงวันที่ 28 เม.ย. 2568)
