SEAProTI Joins Plastic Recycling Workshop with ECCA Family Foundation and Precious Plastic Bangkok
The Southeast Asian Association of Professional Translators and Interpreters (SEAProTI), led by Ms. Wanitcha Sumanat, actively supported the plastic recycling activities organized by the ECCA Family Foundation and Precious Plastic Bangkok at the Ford Foundation in Bangkok, promoting the SDGs and grassroots economic development.
Bangkok, 9 May 2025 – The Southeast Asian Association of Professional Translators and Interpreters (SEAProTI), under the leadership of Ms. Wanitcha Sumanat, President, Mediator, and Arbitrator, provided interpretation and language support services during an environmental seminar and workshop organized by the ECCA Family Foundation and Precious Plastic Bangkok at the Ford Foundation in Bangkok on 9–10 May 2025.
The event aimed to promote knowledge, awareness, and skills on plastic waste reduction and sustainable recycling within Thai communities. The program demonstrated how plastic waste can be transformed into new marketable products, with proceeds returned to the communities to strengthen grassroots economies and encourage responsible resource management.
SEAProTI deployed professional interpreters to facilitate communication for both Thai and international participants, ensuring effective knowledge transfer and smooth discussions throughout the sessions.
This initiative exemplifies SEAProTI’s commitment to fostering collaboration between civil society and the language services profession to advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in the areas of waste management and community engagement.

The Southeast Asian Association of Professional Translators and Interpreters (SEAProTI) has officially announced the criteria and qualifications for individuals to register as “Certified Translators,” “Translation Certification Providers,” and “Certified Interpreters” under the association’s regulations. These guidelines are detailed in Sections 9 and 10 of the Royal Thai Government Gazette, issued by the Secretariat of the Cabinet under the Office of the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand, dated July 25, 2024, Volume 141, Part 66 Ng, Page 100.

กรุงเทพมหานคร, 9 พฤษภาคม 2568 – สมาคมวิชาชีพนักแปลและล่ามแห่งเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ (SEAProTI) นำโดย คุณวณิชชา สุมานัส นายกสมาคมฯ ผู้ไกล่เกลี่ย และอนุญาโตตุลาการ ได้ร่วมปฏิบัติหน้าที่ด้านการแปลและล่ามในกิจกรรมสัมมนาและเวิร์กชอปเพื่อสิ่งแวดล้อม จัดโดย ECCA Family Foundation และโครงการ Precious Plastic Bangkok ณ มูลนิธิฟอร์ด (Ford Foundation) กรุงเทพมหานคร ระหว่างวันที่ 9 และ 10 พฤษภาคม 2568
กิจกรรมครั้งนี้มุ่งเน้นการสร้างความรู้ ความเข้าใจ และทักษะในการลดขยะพลาสติกและการรีไซเคิลอย่างยั่งยืนแก่ชุมชนในประเทศไทย โดยมีการสาธิตการแปรรูปขยะพลาสติกเหลือใช้ให้กลายเป็นผลิตภัณฑ์ใหม่ที่สามารถจำหน่ายได้ รายได้จากการจำหน่ายจะนำกลับคืนสู่ชุมชนเพื่อสนับสนุนเศรษฐกิจฐานราก และส่งเสริมการจัดการทรัพยากรอย่างมีความรับผิดชอบ
สมาคมฯ ได้จัดส่งล่ามผู้เชี่ยวชาญเพื่ออำนวยความสะดวกด้านภาษาแก่ผู้เข้าร่วมกิจกรรมทั้งชาวไทยและชาวต่างชาติ ทำให้การถ่ายทอดความรู้และการแลกเปลี่ยนความคิดเห็นเป็นไปอย่างราบรื่น
การมีส่วนร่วมของ SEAProTI ในครั้งนี้ถือเป็นตัวอย่างที่ดีของการบูรณาการความร่วมมือระหว่างภาคประชาสังคมและวิชาชีพการแปลและล่าม เพื่อสนับสนุนเป้าหมายการพัฒนาอย่างยั่งยืน (Sustainable Development Goals: SDGs) โดยเฉพาะในด้านการจัดการขยะและการส่งเสริมการมีส่วนร่วมของชุมชน
