SEAProTI Participates in International Training on
“Migration Reporting” to Promote Ethical Journalism
Bangkok, 12 May 2025 – The Southeast Asian Association of Professional Translators and Interpreters (SEAProTI), represented by its President Wanitcha Sumanat, participated in an international online training session titled “Training on Migration Reporting: Navigating Migration Narratives and Principles of Ethical Journalism.”
Purpose of the Training
The training was organized by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in collaboration with DW Deutsche Welle (DW), Germany’s international broadcaster. The event aimed to promote responsible and ethical migration reporting, reduce bias, and prevent the spread of misinformation that may negatively affect the human rights of migrants.
SEAProTI’s Role in Enhancing Ethical Media Standards
Ms. Wanitcha Sumanat emphasized the significance of this training as a valuable opportunity to engage in international knowledge exchange and further enhance reporting skills grounded in ethics and social responsibility. This aligns with SEAProTI’s mission to contribute to the advancement of professional standards in the context of migration reporting, particularly in the diverse and dynamic Southeast Asian region.

The Southeast Asian Association of Professional Translators and Interpreters (SEAProTI) has officially announced the criteria and qualifications for individuals to register as “Certified Translators,” “Translation Certification Providers,” and “Certified Interpreters” under the association’s regulations. These guidelines are detailed in Sections 9 and 10 of the Royal Thai Government Gazette, issued by the Secretariat of the Cabinet under the Office of the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand, dated July 25, 2024, Volume 141, Part 66 Ng, Page 100.

จุดประสงค์ของการอบรม
การอบรมจัดโดย องค์การระหว่างประเทศเพื่อการโยกย้ายถิ่นฐาน (IOM) ร่วมกับ DW Deutsche Welle (DW) สื่อกระจายเสียงระหว่างประเทศของเยอรมนี มีเป้าหมายเพื่อส่งเสริมการรายงานข่าวเกี่ยวกับ ผู้ย้ายถิ่นฐาน อย่างมีความรับผิดชอบ เป็นกลาง และลดอคติ พร้อมป้องกันการเผยแพร่ข้อมูลที่ผิดพลาดซึ่งอาจส่งผลกระทบต่อสิทธิมนุษยชนของผู้ย้ายถิ่นฐาน
