Launch of the “Introduction to Legal and Healthcare Interpreting” Training Program (Cohort 1)
Building foundational skills for specialized interpreting in the justice system and public health sector
26 January 2026, Bangkok — The Southeast Asian Professional Translators and Interpreters Association (SEAProTI), in collaboration with the Professional Translators, Interpreters, and Certification Network (PTIS), has announced the launch of a special training program titled “Introduction to Legal and Healthcare Interpreting” (Cohort 1). The program aims to strengthen foundational knowledge and skills in two highly significant and sensitive fields of interpreting—legal interpreting and healthcare interpreting—where accuracy directly affects rights, safety, and access to services.
The program is designed for beginners and those seeking a structured pathway to professional interpreting. Emphasis is placed on understanding institutional frameworks, real-world workflows, and professional ethics, ensuring participants are well prepared for interpreting assignments that demand precision and accountability.
Foundations of Legal Interpreting
In the legal interpreting component, participants will gain an overview of Thailand’s justice system, court structures, and judicial procedures, along with commonly used legal terminology such as “defendant,” “plaintiff,” “affidavit,” “cross-examination,” and “testimony.” Practical training covers interpreting witness statements for law enforcement officers, interpreting between lawyers and clients, interpreting in courts of first instance, and interpreting during the reading of judgments. The program also includes simulated role-play exercises to allow participants to practice message transfer in realistic legal settings, including legal situations connected to healthcare services.
Foundations of Healthcare Interpreting
The healthcare interpreting component focuses on building an understanding of the public health system and healthcare facilities, as well as the interpreter’s role in clinical consultations, emergency rooms, and other treatment contexts.
Course content includes essential medical terminology related to human anatomy, common diseases, patient history taking, diagnosis, treatment, medications, and medical procedures. Participants will also practice interpreting between physicians and patients and learn how to convey medical test results accurately in a clear and comprehensible manner.
Advancing Professional Standards
According to the organizers, the program has been developed with close attention to real working conditions for interpreters in Thailand, particularly in contexts involving individual rights, liberty, and personal safety. As such, the curriculum prioritizes accuracy, impartiality, and professional responsibility alongside linguistic competence.
The “Introduction to Legal and Healthcare Interpreting” (Cohort 1) represents an important step in developing language professionals capable of meeting the growing demands of the justice and public health systems. SEAProTI is the first professional association in Thailand and Southeast Asia to implement a comprehensive certification system for translators, certifiers, and interpreters.

ปูพื้นฐานวิชาชีพล่ามเฉพาะทาง ตอบโจทย์กระบวนการยุติธรรมและระบบสาธารณสุข
26 มกราคม 2569, กรุงเทพมหานคร – สมาคมวิชาชีพนักแปลและล่ามแห่งเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ (SEAProTI) ร่วมกับ ชมรมนักแปลเครือข่าย ผู้รับรองการแปล และค่ามรับรอง (PTIS) ประกาศเปิดอบรมหลักสูตรพิเศษ “ล่ามกฎหมายและสาธารณสุขเบื้องต้น” รุ่นที่ 1 โดยมีเป้าหมายเพื่อเสริมสร้างความรู้และทักษะพื้นฐานด้านการล่ามในสองสาขาที่มีความสำคัญสูงและมีความอ่อนไหวต่อสิทธิของประชาชน ได้แก่ งานล่ามด้านกฎหมาย และงานล่ามด้านสาธารณสุข
หลักสูตรดังกล่าวออกแบบมาเพื่อผู้เริ่มต้นและผู้ที่สนใจพัฒนาทักษะการล่ามอย่างเป็นระบบ โดยเน้นทั้งความเข้าใจเชิงโครงสร้าง ระบบงานจริง และจริยธรรมวิชาชีพ เพื่อเตรียมความพร้อมสู่การปฏิบัติงานล่ามในสถานการณ์ที่ต้องการความแม่นยำและความรับผิดชอบสูง
พื้นฐานการล่ามด้านกฎหมาย
ในส่วนของการล่ามด้านกฎหมาย ผู้เข้าอบรมจะได้เรียนรู้ภาพรวมของระบบยุติธรรมไทย โครงสร้างศาล และกระบวนการพิจารณาคดี ตลอดจนคำศัพท์ทางกฎหมายที่ใช้บ่อยในการปฏิบัติงานล่าม เช่น “defendant,” “plaintiff,” “affidavit,” “cross-examination,” และ “testimony” ภาคปฏิบัติของหลักสูตรครอบคลุมการล่ามคำให้การต่อพนักงานสอบสวน การล่ามระหว่างทนายความและลูกความ การล่ามในศาลชั้นต้น รวมถึงการล่ามระหว่างการอ่านคำพิพากษา นอกจากนี้ยังมีการฝึกจำลองสถานการณ์ (Role Play) เพื่อให้ผู้เข้าอบรมได้ฝึกการถ่ายทอดสารในบริบทจริง รวมถึงสถานการณ์ทางกฎหมายที่เกี่ยวข้องกับบริการสาธารณสุข
พื้นฐานการล่ามด้านสาธารณสุข
ด้านการล่ามสาธารณสุข หลักสูตรมุ่งสร้างความเข้าใจเกี่ยวกับโครงสร้างระบบสาธารณสุขและการทำงานของสถานพยาบาล ตลอดจนบทบาทของล่ามในห้องตรวจ ห้องฉุกเฉิน และการรักษาพยาบาลในบริบทต่าง ๆ เนื้อหาครอบคลุมคำศัพท์สำคัญเกี่ยวกับโครงสร้างร่างกายมนุษย์ โรคทั่วไป การซักประวัติผู้ป่วย การวินิจฉัย การรักษา การใช้ยา และขั้นตอนทางการแพทย์ พร้อมการฝึกแปลและล่ามระหว่างแพทย์กับผู้ป่วย รวมถึงการอธิบายผลตรวจทางการแพทย์อย่างถูกต้องและเข้าใจง่าย
มุ่งยกระดับมาตรฐานวิชาชีพ
ผู้จัดหลักสูตรระบุว่า หลักสูตรนี้ออกแบบโดยคำนึงถึงบริบทการทำงานจริงของล่ามในประเทศไทย โดยเฉพาะสถานการณ์ที่เกี่ยวข้องกับสิทธิ เสรีภาพ และความปลอดภัยของบุคคล หลักสูตรจึงให้ความสำคัญกับความถูกต้อง ความเป็นกลาง และความรับผิดชอบทางวิชาชีพควบคู่กับทักษะด้านภาษา
หลักสูตร “ล่ามกฎหมายและสาธารณสุขเบื้องต้น” รุ่นที่ 1 จึงถือเป็นอีกก้าวสำคัญในการพัฒนาบุคลากรด้านภาษาให้มีความพร้อมต่อความต้องการของระบบยุติธรรมและระบบสาธารณสุขในปัจจุบัน โดยผู้สนใจสามารถติดตามรายละเอียดวัน เวลา สถานที่ และการสมัครเข้าร่วมได้จากช่องทางประชาสัมพันธ์ของ SEAProTI และ PTIS ต่อไป

สำนักคณะกรรมการกฤษฎีกาเสนอให้ตราเป็นพระราชกฤษฎีกา โดยกำหนดให้นักแปลที่ขึ้นทะเบียน รวมถึงผู้รับรองการแปลจากสมาคมวิชาชีพหรือสถาบันสอนภาษาที่มีการอบรมและขึ้นทะเบียน สามารถรับรองคำแปลได้ (จดหมายถึงสมาคม SEAProTI ลงวันที่ 28 เม.ย. 2568)
